This is for a brand new single speed chain tensioner with rigid/fixed position design. You lock these tensioners in place and they don't move during riding. They have no springs or spring action like other tensioners.

Here's the pitch: You have a standard bicycle with vertical dropouts meant for having a standard derailleur (i.e. 10 speed), and you've decided you want to scrap all that extra weight, maintenance and hassle and go single speed. Problem is, you have to tension the chain because vertical dropouts don't allow you to pull the chain tight. So this is one of the ways you can do it.


Here's how it works: You put the black spacer on your wheel axle, and the silver screw goes where your old derailleur was. You tension the chain then tighten the silver screw to lock it in place. You'll just remove the old derailleur and shorten your chain!
