Product Description
Experience the comfort of a leather saddle: this is one really sweet bike seat. Made by Gyes in Taiwan, it's a full-on leather saddle with adjustment screw to adjust leather tension as you wear the saddle in. This one is a bit unique in that it has copper plated rails and rivets for just a slightly different look.
I didn't know how great leather saddles were until riding one myself for the first time about a year ago. Now I'll never ride anything but leather... they're comfortable right out of the box!
This saddle compares to the Brooks brand saddles. It's NOT a Brooks saddle, but it gives all the hallmarks of a comfortable saddle.
This one is narrow and long for a racing type riding position with the handlebars lower or even with the saddle. It has no springs as do some touring saddles, so it's lighter than a sprung saddle. This one is made for more of a racing posture.
Leather care:
* You need to keep it out of the rain as much as possible
* The bottom of the saddle has a protective fabric screen to protect the leather from water sprayed by your tires
* You'll need to make sure you oil your saddle regularly, otherwise it'll dry out, crack and become worthless. Sheldon Brown's website has an excellent article on leather saddles and saddle care (Google "Sheldon Brown leather saddle"). We use Rawlings leather baseball glove oil and conditioner, but any suitable treatment used on baseball gloves, leather bike saddles, horse saddles and the like should do just fine.
Features:
* Color: Black leather. Also available in Honey Brown (560-012) and Brown (560-011)
* Full leather construction
* Cro-Moly rails and rivets with copper plating
* Smooth top
* 280mm L x 150mm W (sized for men)
* Weighs 535g (1 lb 3 oz.)
* Includes wrenches for adjusting saddle tension after leather has settled a bit
* Model GS-06 Made in by Gyes in Taiwan with genuine, quality cow leather
